Privacy Policy

1.               MySkillsFuture.gov.sg is a Government Agency digital service[1]. We are committed to protecting your personal data and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains the mode by which we collect, use, disclose or otherwise process the data, whether true or not, about an individual who  can be identified (a) from that data, or (b) from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access (“Personal Data”[2]), and your rights concerning your Personal Data. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of our digital service and by using our digital service, you are deemed to have agreed to and accepted the terms of this Privacy Policy, including the annexes herein.

Cookies

2.               We may use "cookies", where a small data file is sent to your browser to store information for performing certain functions in respect of our digital service, including the facilitation of website navigation. The cookies, which are encrypted for protection against unauthorized access, are used to store information such as the number of users and their frequency of use, profiles of users and their preferred sites. While the cookies can tell us when you enter our sites and which pages you visit, it cannot read data off your hard disk. We may collect and use anonymized Personal Data to improve site navigation, analyze site usage, and provide content personalization, or for statistical and research purposes.

3.              Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the digital service.

Collection and Use of Data

4.              We will collect data, including Personal Data, from other Government agencies and we may also collect data, including Personal Data, from other non-government entities, as part of the provision of our digital service. Such data may include but is not limited to your employment records, academic qualification records, professional certification records, licenses and other kinds of data that are integrated and used for the purpose of our digital service. The aforementioned data will also be used to enhance our digital service. The terms of collection of data from other Government Agencies are set out here. Withdrawal of consent for the collection and use of data, including Personal Data, from other Government agencies would mean that our digital service will no longer collect updated data from the relevant Government agencies, and such data will not be made available for the purpose of viewing or sharing on our digital service. We will cease further use of data collected from other Government agencies before withdrawal of consent. 

5.              The data may also be used for the purposes of marketing and communication, statistics and research, personalization of services such as course recommendations and monitoring of fraudulent transactions. We may use your data, to develop and improve Data Analytics Models, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems for use by other Government agencies, and non-Government entities. This includes: Refining and enhancing our Data Analytics, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Models such as curating personalized experiences, recommendations (e.g. course recommendations), and predictive functionalities. 

Data collected will also be used for the purpose of delivering personalized services, such as career matching, job and course recommendations, and career advice.  

6. You have the right to access, update, or request the deletion of your data at any time. If you wish to correct any errors in your data or withdraw consent for data sharing, you will have to contact us through the designated feedback channel stated in clause 13. We will process your request in accordance with our data protection policies and applicable laws.

Disclosure of Data

7.              In respect of the data, including Personal Data[3], that we collect and which you may provide to us:

(a)            We may share necessary data with other Government agencies, so as to improve the discharge of public functions and to serve you in the most efficient and effective way unless such sharing is prohibited by law.

(b)            We will not share your data with non-Government entities, except where such entities have been authorized or we have entered agreements with such entities to carry out specific Government services and where you have given or are deemed to have given your consent.

(c)            You may from time to time receive information and updates relating to our services. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link which can be found at the bottom of our emails.

The data that we share with other Government agencies and non-Government entities may also be used by those Government agencies and Government-approved entities for research and development, marketing and communication, statistics and research, personalization of services, and monitoring of fraudulent transactions. We are not responsible for the data protection practices of such Government agencies and Government-approved entities.

8.              Our digital service allows you to curate and manage the data, including the Personal Data, that you choose to disclosure to or share with third parties, including other websites, employers, and third-party services. You can choose, update, and control the data that is shared with or disclosed to third parties through our digital service. We are not responsible for the data protection practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing or disclosing your data. It is your responsibility to ensure that the data, including the Personal Data, you choose to share with or disclose to third parties is accurate and up to date. In order to facilitate the transfer of your information to a Data Recipient via Careers & Skills Passport, the "SGDex" Terms of Use (available here, or such other successor site) would apply. You may adjust your sharing settings at any time through your account preferences.

Storage of Data

9.              Users are encouraged to review their data, including the Personal Data, regularly to ensure that it is accurate and complete. We are not liable for issues in the collection, use, disclosure or processing of your data, including but not limited to inaccuracies caused by system errors, technical issues or human error. 

10.              To safeguard your Personal Data, all electronic storage and transmission of Personal Data is secured with appropriate security technologies. In some cases, we may work with third-party services to develop or integrate technologies into our services. When this occurs, we ensure that these partners comply with our data protection policies and applicable legal standards. 

11.              This digital service may contain links to third party websites which adopt data protection policies and procedures different from ours. We are not responsible for the content, data protection policies and procedures of such websites and encourage you to consult the privacy notices of such websites.

12.             Your personal data may be retained by other Government agencies and non-Government Entities for the purposes set out at clause 5. These Government agencies and non-Government Entities are required to comply with our data protection policies and data protection laws, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

13.              We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about our data protection policies and procedures.

[1] This Privacy Policy sets out how SkillsFuture Singapore Agency (“SSG” or “we”) processes data in our possession or control. MySkillsFuture.gov.sg is an official digital service of SSG together with any subdomains, subpages, applications or services related to or linked to or from this digital service, including the course directory, Careers & Skills Passport, self-assessment tool and career resources (collectively referred to as the “digital service”).

[2] Examples of personal data include your full name, identification number, personal contact information such as your telephone number, email address and residential address, and your Careers & Skills Passport data.

[3] Personal data is provided to us when you (i) log into our digital service, (ii) use any of our assessment tools, (iii) submit any claim, application or form to us, or when such data is submitted to us through any other means.
