Posting Groups will only be used for the purposes of admitting students into secondary school and to guide the initial subject levels students can offer at the start of Secondary One.
At the end of Secondary 4, you will sit for the SEC examinations, at your respective subject levels (i.e. G1, G2, G3).
Post-secondary education comprises the paths you can take after you complete your secondary school education.
Upon graduation from a post-secondary education institution(PSEI), you can continue to another PSEI or pursue further education, depending on your interests, strengths and learning goals.

MOE will post students to secondary school through one of the three Posting Groups - Posting Groups 1, 2, or 3 - based on a student's PSLE score. The PSLE score is generated based on the aggregate of the Achievement Levels (AL) score of the individual subjects taken at PSLE. You may use the PSLE Score Calculator to determine your PSLE score and refer to the following table for your Posting Group placement.
| PSLE Score | Posting Group(s) |
|---|---|
| 4 - 20 | 3 |
| 21 - 22 | 2 or 3 |
| 23 - 24 | 2 |
| 25 | 1 or 2 |
| 26 - 30 (with AL7* or better in EL and MA) |
1 |
*ALs refer to Achievement Levels, which are scoring bands that have replaced the PSLE T-Score. Each PSLE subject is scored using 8 ALs. Students who perform similarly will be placed in the same AL for each subject.
Under the AL system, if you are taking foundation subjects, you will be graded AL A to AL C. For the purpose of S1 posting, Foundation Level AL A to AL C will be mapped to a Standard Level subject equivalent of AL 6 to AL 8 respectively, to derive your overall PSLE score.

The Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) is a one-year programme that offers a practice-oriented curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers, to better prepare polytechnic-bound students for entry into the relevant Polytechnic Diploma courses. The programme is conducted over 2 academic semesters at the polytechnics and serves as an alternative to Secondary 5.
Eligibility Criteria
AY2027 intake and before
Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who sat for the GCE N-level examinations as a school candidate in the preceding year, and meet both requirements, may apply for the PFP:
a. Obtain a raw ELMAB3 score of 12 points or better, excluding CCA bonus points.
b. Meet subject-specific requirements (see Changes to PFP starting from 2026 intake | MOE for more information).
Students will enter one of the following three key broad clusters. At the end of the PFP year, students will then apply to a specific diploma course within the cluster, and posting will be based on their PFP performance and course choice:
(i) Science,
(ii) Humanities, Art, Media and Business, or
(iii) Design, Engineering & Technology (NYP and TP offer two sub-clusters: (i) Design and (ii) Engineering & Technology).
Diploma-specific admission to PFP will continue for Nursing, Tamil Studies in Early Education and Early Childhood Development & Education courses as these courses are more specialised. Students who are keen on these specialised diploma courses can continue to gain admission through entering PFP for the specific diploma directly or through the cluster-based approach.
From AY2028 intake
From the AY2028 intake, the PFP will be expanded to allow students taking (i) all G3 subjects, (ii) a mix of G2 and G3 subjects and (iii) all G2 subjects to access the PFP, where G3 grades will be mapped to the G2 equivalent based on the grade mapping table.
Students who sat for the SEC as a school candidate in the preceding year, and meet both requirements, may apply for the PFP:
a. Obtain a raw ELMAB3 score of 12 points or better, excluding CCA bonus points.
b. Meet subject-specific requirements (see Changes to PFP starting from 2026 intake | MOE)

The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) offers two types of diploma programmes: Work-Study Diplomas and Technical Diplomas, across multiple sectors such as Business, Engineering, Information & Digital, Arts, Design & Media and Health Sciences.
These programmes fulfil the aspirations of ITE graduates for academic and career progression.
Students especially appreciate the hands-on training mode of these diplomas, enabling them to gain relevant and up-to-date skills that can immediately be used at the workplace. Graduates have also enjoyed strong employment outcomes, earning monthly salaries comparable to that of full-time polytechnic diploma graduates. With strong support from the labour market and strong market recognition bolstered by positive outcomes for individuals and companies, ITE continues to expand the Work-Study Diplomas and Technical Diplomas.
Eligibility Criteria
ITE graduates who have attained a relevant Nitec or Higher Nitec may be eligible for ITE Work-Study Diplomas and ITE Technical Diplomas based on their Grade Point Average score. Please refer to ITE's webpage for the entry requirements for the respective courses that you are interested to apply for.
For more information on ITE's diplomas, you may refer to the details below or access them at ITE's webpage:

Programme structure
ITE Work-Study Diplomas
The ITE Work-Study Diploma is an apprenticeship-based academic programme. Trainees are hired as employees of a partner company and undergo on-the-job training at the workplace, learning from experienced industry professionals. Trainees also undergo an on-campus learning component, where they attend classes taught by ITE lecturers. As employees, trainees earn a salary throughout the 2.5 to 3 year programme, and gain real work experience and theoretical knowledge, giving them a head-start in their career.
ITE Technical Diploma
The ITE Technical Diploma offers practical training, specialised skills and in-depth knowledge to help build a strong foundation for a career in technical fields. The full-time programme lasts between 2 and 2.5 years, and includes opportunities for student exchanges and industrial attachments, enhancing both the learning experience and career prospects. The ITE Technical Diploma is jointly certified by ITE and its international partners from France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Switzerland, giving graduates a globally-recognised qualification.
