What is it?

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance supports eligible mid-career Singaporeans to upskill and reskill  by providing training allowance for selected long-form training.

Who is it for?

All Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above

The SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance supports both full-time and part-time long-form training, so you can decide which type of training best suits your needs.

The amount of training allowance and respective implementation dates for full-time and part-time training programmes vary.

Individuals who take time off work to pursue full-time, long-form training (usually during working hours)

Note: Only individuals with income in the latest 12 months before course start date will be eligible for the Training Allowance.

Employed individuals who take up part-time, long-form training (usually outside working hours)

How many months of training allowance is an individual eligible for?

 

Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above can tap on a maximum of 24 months of training allowance over their lifetime

How much training allowance is an individual eligible for?

 

50% of your average earned monthly income in the last 12 months* before course start date, with a minimum allowance of $300 and maximum allowance of $3,000 per month

Flat rate of $300 per month

 

What are the courses eligible for training allowance?

 

The full-time long-form training courses are:

1. Full-time SkillsFuture Career Transition Programmes (SCTP)

2. Full-time Full Qualifications up to the undergraduate degree-level offered by the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs)

3. Full-time MOE-subsidised Full Qualifications up to the undergraduate degree-level offered by the University of the Arts Singapore and Arts Institutions

 

The part-time long-form training courses are:

1. Part-time SCTP

2. Part-time Full Qualifications up to the undergraduate degree-level offered by the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), and micro-credentials that can be stacked to these Full Qualifications

Top FAQs for SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance

 

You qualify if:

  • you are a Singapore Citizen aged 40 and above; and
  • you are enrolled in an eligible full-time long-form training from 1 April 2025 onwards.

The Training Allowance will be disbursed monthly, once you’ve met the training requirements for that month.

  • For full-time SCTP courses, you need to attain at least 75% attendance each month.
  • For full-time full qualifications, you need to meet the training requirements as specified by the MOE-funded institutions  (IHLs, University of the Arts Singapore, or Arts Institutions). Please refer to the respective institutions for the prevailing training requirements.

Upon meeting the training requirements, you will receive the allowance in the following month.

Yes. If you are a Singaporean aged 40 and above and enrolled in an eligible full-time programme prior to 1 April 2025, you can apply to receive the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance for the remaining course period (subject to the cap of 24 months). However, there will be no back-payment of the Training Allowance for training attended before 1 April 2025.

The eligible courses are selected based on their quality and employability outcomes. These include:

  • Full-time SCTP;
  • Full-time full qualifications up to undergraduate degree-level offered by the IHLs ; and
  • Full-time MOE-subsidised full qualifications up to the undergraduate degree-level offered by University of the Arts Singapore and Arts Institutions.

The list of eligible courses will be reviewed and updated regularly to reflect new programmes that help mid-career Singaporeans build in-demand skills.

These programmes tend to take place over a more significant course duration of a few months or more, as they deliver a substantial curriculum that supports reskilling into a new job role, or skills deepening in an area of specialisation. Examples include the full qualification programmes at the Institutes of Higher Learning and the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme, which may be up to 12 months in duration.

For full-time training:

  • You must have earned income in the last 12 months before your course start date.
  • Your monthly allowance will be 50% of your average earned monthly income during that period (based on government records), with a minimum of $300 and a maximum of $3,000 per month.
  • The allowance is fixed for the duration of your course.

For part-time training:

  • You will receive a flat rate of $300 per month.
