SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme

Published by SkillsFuture Singapore

What is it?

The SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme, through enhanced course fee support and training allowance, helps mid-career Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above pursue a substantive skills reboot and adapt to a changing economy.

How will I benefit?

If you are a Singapore Citizen aged 40 years and above, you are eligible for:

  1. subsidies for course fees, and
  2. training allowance.

1.   Increased Course Fee Subsidy

There are two kinds of financial subsidies for course fees:

a.     Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) for publicly-funded full-time Diploma

The MCES covers up to 90% of course fees for courses funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

From Academic Year of 2025, if you enrol in a full-time Diploma from ITE (Technical/Technical Engineering Diploma), Polytechnics, and Arts Institutions (NAFA, LASALLE), you will be eligible for the MCES, on top of the prevailing base subsidies.

The list of full-time diplomas and application periods for admission can be found on the institutions’ websites.

For more information, see SkillsFuture Funding for Individuals.

b.     SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career)

SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) of $4,000, which does not expire,  can further offset nett course fees for selected courses that have better employability outcomes. This is provided to all Singapore Citizens upon reaching 40 years old.

For more information, see SkillsFuture Credit

2.   Financial Support for Long-Form Training

Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above are eligible for a maximum of 24 months of the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance, across both full-time and part-time training.

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance

You can apply for full-time Training Allowance if you enrol in an eligible full-time, long-form programme. This will help to cushion some of the impact from loss of income when you take time off work to train full-time.

To qualify, you will need to have earned income in the last 12 months. The monthly training allowance is 50% of one’s average income (based on government sources) over the latest 12 months leading up to course start date, with a minimum of $300 and maximum of $3,000.

[Upcoming!] Part-time Training Allowance

In addition, the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance will be extended to selected part-time training from early 2026. You will receive a flat rate of $300 per month to defray incidental training expenses even as you continue to work while pursuing part-time training. More information will be released at a later date.

For more information, see SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance.
